Canine sports medicine
Small Animal Sports Medicine is a service that provides specialized expertise in non-invasive and non-surgical techniques for diagnosis and treatment of lameness, pain management, rehabilitation, conditioning and injury prevention for performance, hunting, working dogs as well as pets and companions. We provide diagnostics and treatment options for a variety of patients ranging from enhancing performance and injury prevention in working, performance, and hunting dogs to managing mobility and comfort in geriatric patients. The service provides support including pain management and rehabilitation for patients with non-surgical or post surgical neurologic and orthopedic conditions. It can provide diagnostics and treatment for muscle, tendon and ligament injuries as well as performance or working related injuries. It can also help in the diagnosis of underlying pain or injury causing gait or performance changes. The Sports Medicine service is available to provide care for dogs ranging from the top performing athletes and hard charging hunting dogs to the best buddy snoozing on the couch.
This service works closely with orthopedic surgery, neurology, medical imaging, rehabilitation, nutrition, and anesthesia and pain management to diagnose the problem and improve performance and quality of life for pets.
